Some retailers use Facebook as a way to introduce their latest products at the store to the customers. Within hours of posting details of the newly arrived products on the Facebook page, customers seem to be pouring in. Using Facebook as a way to advertise, gives retailers more opportunity to interact with existing customers and many new ones. In the past five years, the social medias such as: online forums, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter have become one of the main social medias for communication. This gives a huge opportunity for retailers to connect with clients. Approximately, 100 companies use at least one of these social medias as part of their marketing strategies. There are also many small businesses that see Facebook and Twitter as a low-cost tool to push services or products. Some users are disturbed by such marketing strategies and are turned off by it. These users could have been potential customers to certain retailers. Many retailers see this is an effective way to invite participation from existing and future clients. To many clients they find that this form of marketing works fairly well, and it gives retailers an idea of how well their products and services are received.
I think this way of advertising your products and services through social medias is very effective. It gives a chance for consumers to view products and services in advance, which saves time for consumers. This is an advantage for both consumers and retailers.
I totally agree with you stating that many business owners are using facebook to attract constumers. It is definately a very effective way of attracting contumers at very low cost. Business owners use facebook to advertise their product because they know that more than half of the world is using facebook and they use it as an advantage. Also it gives customers a chance to look over the product in advance which saves time for costumers.

To me, advertising on facebook is not the most effective advertisement. As a social networking user, I have seen many advertisements in the past on my screen. However,eventually, I automatically tune them out, ignoring the fact they are even there. If social networking were their main advertising plan, they could make it more effective by actually having someone go around, telling people about their brand, rather than having a logo placed right on the side of a photo.

ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree that facebook isn't the most effective way of advertising to a target market. The main reason behind this is because most people just ignore them. The fact that people just glance at it could generate a small thought in their minds but based on my own experience and to seem that others agree, people would just tune it out and it would still become lost revenue for the business.

I think using facebook as a platform for advertisement is a pretty good idea. I read a news article today about facebook, and it says that number of facebook users are increasing every year. I believed that the internet (technology) industry will dominate the whole world in the future. By that time, everyone will be checking out products and services on the internet instead of newspaper and magazines. And companies that take advantages of the power of internet can really benefit from it.
ReplyDeleteI also agree to the article about how internet has been a good source for entrepreneurs to advertise. But there is also an increase of scams and hacking into computers, wouldn't consumers feel not safe going on these sites, such as Facebook?
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree that facebook is not the best way of advertising. When people who are using these sites get annoyed. For example, everytime I go on facebook or youtube and I see an ad, it bugs the heck out of me and I close it right away. The last thing people online want to see is more ads. I think to make it more effective would be to force the user to actually watch the commericials. I dont think I would be willing to spend money for advertising online if I were a business.
ReplyDeleteFacebook has difinitely been a great source of advertisement. However, it doesn't attract as many customers. Many facebook users would see the ad on the side of the page but probably a majority of them would just ignore the fact that they're there. The best way to advertise would probably be on TV or billboards where it would catch people's attention. I think advertising on Facebook is just a waste of money.

Currently, there are more than 500 million users of Facebook, and to allow each and every user to interact in every way possible, the website is offered in over 70 different translations, and many new plug-ins and games are added on to the site by the second. Facebook is now just not a social networking site, but a business site to sell and buy products, promote global events, share jokes, music, games and much more. A user of Facebook basically goes on everyday, and if there is one way to reach 500 million people in the world, it would be to advertise on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteAdvertising on social networks certainly is a clever idea to create awareness that such a product exists but it is not very effective to sell. For example when you are surfing through your friend's profiles you most likely do not stop and read advertisements at all but you do glance for a quick moment at them. With every glance at the advertisement it creates awareness of a product or a company which is big potential revenue.
